Connecting eBay
Authorize Austin's Comic Collection to read your eBay inventory and sales.
Austin's Comic Collection talks to eBay through eBay's official OAuth API. You authorize once and we maintain the connection by refreshing tokens automatically in the background.
The OAuth handshake
When you click Connect eBay you are redirected to eBay's consent screen. eBay tells you exactly which scopes you are granting:
- sell.inventory — read your active listings, item details, and pricing.
- sell.account — read your account-level settings (return policy, fulfillment policy).
- sell.fulfillment — read your orders and shipping info to surface sales.
- sell.marketing — needed for promoted listings reporting.
We do not request scopes we do not use. We do not request commerce.identity (your personal info), sell.finances (Managed Payments balance), or any scope that would let us move money.
After approval eBay redirects back to our callback URL with an authorization code. We exchange that for an access token plus a refresh token, encrypt both at rest, and store them tied to your profile.
Sandbox vs production
If you set EBAY_ENV=sandbox in your environment variables we use eBay's sandbox endpoints — useful for testing without touching real listings. Production is the default.
You can verify which environment you are connected to by looking at Settings → eBay. The badge says either Production or Sandbox.
What data we read
Every sync we pull:
- Inventory items — title, SKU, condition, category, current price, quantity.
- Listings — auction or fixed-price status, end times, watch counts, view counts.
- Orders — buyer-anonymized order metadata, line items, fees, payouts.
We do not pull buyer messages, buyer addresses (only the city/state needed for shipping reports), or financial account balances.
Reconnecting after a token expiry
eBay refresh tokens live eighteen months. If yours expires you will see a banner on the dashboard prompting you to reconnect. The reconnect flow is identical to the original — eBay remembers you and will not ask for full consent again unless scopes have changed.
Disconnecting
Settings → eBay → Disconnect clears your tokens, sets the cookie to disconnected, and stops the next scheduled sync. Your historical data is preserved — only the live connection is severed.
If you later reconnect with the same eBay account, the sync will resume and incremental changes will catch up automatically.
Multiple eBay accounts
We support one eBay account per Austin's Comic Collection profile. If you run multiple stores under separate eBay accounts you will need to create separate profiles (different email magic-link sign-ins) and connect each independently.
